Short trail with water to cross
September 29, 2020
Here a short trail, the trail stops at the water side. Toots had to find that he should cross the water.
Because I wanted succes, the trail after the water is short or even no trail at all. Next time the trail goes another 200m after he swiped over the water.
Trail 340m increasing the distance
September 26, 2020
A trail of 340m, learning to take distance and trying to keep on the track. He started to fast, not concentrated on the trail, but after a visit to the trees, he started the trail. He has to do a lot of self-study and then he gets better and better in follow the trail.
Running Long Lines
December 18, 2018
Running long lines (command in Dutch: vooruit or English: back), before this session there were multiple sessions on the same place, in the beginning he saw me putting the bumpers in the field. In this session he didn't see me putting the bumpers in the field, but because of the previous sessions, he knew what to do (memory). At the end, after a few apport, he did the long line to the same spot, but from a different angle.
Touch and Ok
November 01, 2018
The second phase of he touch command, now from a few meters distance. With the Ok word I release Toots from the touch command. In the middle of the video, I start to rotate with Toots when he stays on the touch-pad. With this exercise he learns to rotate by moving his hindquarters, Useful for the heel work. Next phase will be increase the distance and give the heel command in combination with the touch command (sitting besides me with front legs on the touch-pad) and start to rotate (both directions).
Blind over water
May 17, 2018
Here Toots (8,5 months old) goes blind over water, so no support of a person on that side of the water. I practised a lot with bumpers, now I'll start to train more with ducks. You can see he is searching for a bumper, after a verbal 'motivation' he takes the duck. At the other side my daughter helps me. We communicate with a 'walkie talkie' .
Long Lines
March 31, 2018
Running long lines (65-70m). I did this for two days with Toots, at that time he saw me throwing the bumpers. Now I throw the bumpers on the same place, but Toots was at home. So on memory (and the command back/vooruit) he ran three times the long line. Of course with support of the trees and bushes. Later in time I'll train this on rougher terrain and start increasing the distance. This is a crucial part when you are going to direct your dog over long distances. Of course lots to improve for myself, but the start is there. Toots is also changing bumpers, this also will be a point of training.
Back (turn left en turn right)
January 04, 2018
The second day of doing this exercise. Yesterday with a bowl and a dogs biscuit , today started with a bumper. Because he's very steady, I throw the bumper over his head while he sits in front of me. If I use my left arm, het turns left (right for Toots), if I use my right arm he turns right (left for Toots).
Apport with gunshot and sit in front wait for command to give the bumper.
January 01, 2018
I first practiced the fetch (vast) and drop (los) as a seperate exercise, in this video I put this together with the apport.
I'm so proud of this little dog.
After the shot, he had to wait for 3 seconds before he could apport the bumper.
